Road Safety Awareness Programme at Santosh Hospital - 2026

The Department of General Surgery successfully conducted a Road Safety Awareness Programme at Santosh Hospital on 20th January 2026. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness about road safety measures and the prevention of head injuries among the general public and medical students. The event witnessed active participation from patients, their attendants, community members, undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, making it a highly engaging and impactful initiative. The programme emphasized the importance of following traffic rules, wearing helmets and seat belts, and adopting safe driving practices to reduce road traffic accidents. To effectively convey key safety messages, two role plays were performed by undergraduate and postgraduate students. These performances highlighted real-life scenarios related to road accidents and demonstrated how simple precautions can save lives. The role plays were well received and helped the audience understand the consequences of unsafe road behavior in an engaging manner. As a significant highlight of the programme, a Road Safety Pledge was administered, in which more than 500 participants pledged to follow road safety rules and promote safe practices in their daily lives. The programme concluded with a strong message of social responsibility and collective effort toward reducing road traffic injuries and fatalities. The initiative reflected Santosh Hospital’s commitment to community health, preventive care, and public awareness.
