To commemorate International Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology organized a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness and Health Camp at Dasna Jail on 18th May 2026. The initiative aimed to promote menstrual health awareness, provide essential healthcare services and encourage hygienic menstrual practices among women inmates. A comprehensive health camp was conducted, during which the gynaecological and health concerns of the inmates were assessed and addressed by the faculty members and postgraduate students. To support women's health and wellbeing, Iron and Calcium tablets and Nitrofurantoin tablets were distributed. The programme also included awareness sessions on “Menstrual Cycle and Common Menstrual Problems” by Dr. Alpana Agrawal and “Menstrual Hygiene Management” by Dr. Manisha Gupta. The sessions were highly interactive, with inmates actively participating and seeking clarification on various menstrual health-related concerns. Special emphasis was placed on dispelling common myths and misconceptions associated with menstruation. Educational charts prepared by the postgraduate students were displayed to facilitate better understanding and engagement. As part of the initiative, sanitary pad packets containing six pads each were distributed to 198 women inmates, ensuring access to essential menstrual hygiene products. The camp successfully promoted awareness regarding menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of seeking timely medical care, reflecting the department's commitment to women's health and community outreach
